Bio

Detective Jill Calhoun is a dedicated law enforcement professional with over 16 years of service with the Los Angeles Police Department. Her dream of becoming a police officer began in the 3rd grade and has guided a career rooted in purpose, protection, and public service. She has served in a range of specialized assignments including patrol, narcotics, missing persons, and mental health response. She spent several years as a member of both the Citywide Human Trafficking Unit and the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (ICAC).

While her work in human trafficking and child exploitation has been especially meaningful, Jill is equally passionate about empowering others, particularly those rising through the ranks. She credits strong mentorship for shaping her own path and is committed to giving back in the same way, helping others grow in confidence, leadership, and resilience. Jill also carries a deep sense of purpose in promoting officer wellness. She believes that prioritizing emotional and mental health is not only vital for individual officers but essential to the strength of the profession as a whole. Through mentorship, community outreach, and real conversations, she encourages officers to pursue wellness as a form of long-term sustainability and service.

She holds a B.A. in Administration of Justice from Howard University, where she also competed as a collegiate athlete. A forever student of life, Jill continuously seeks growth bringing what she learns back to her community by serving on the Human Relations board and by hosting a podcast that highlights the human side of policing.

Jill holds deep admiration for LAWPOA’s mission and considers it a true honor to serve alongside such powerful and inspiring women in law enforcement. She remains committed to protecting the vulnerable, bridging the gap between officers and the communities and using her experience to support and elevate others.
