Helen Chamberlain

Superintendent Helen Chamberlain has over 25 years policing experience in a wide variety of roles. She commenced her career in 1988 in South Yorkshire Police where she worked on response (uniform patrol), CID, Custody as a Sergeant, traffic as a Sergeant and temporary Inspector and latterly in Corporate Development.
 
In 2004 she went to work as a staff officer in Her Majesty's Inspectorate of Constabulary where she was involved in supporting and inspecting forces such as Cleveland, Humberside and the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI ).  Within Nottinghamshire Police she has carried the roles of City Operations Superintendent and then City Deputy Divisional commander before taking up her current role in March 2011 as Head of Public Protection.
 
Helen is the regional lead for the Police in the East Midlands on Domestic Abuse and Child Sexual Exploitation, Nottinghamshire were part of the Pilot scheme for the Domestic Violence Disclosure scheme ( DVDS).  Helen is also the lead on the national strand of work to review the definitions of domestic abuse repeat victims and serial perpetrators.  Helen has supported the national College of Policing in the roll out of domestic abuse training and led on an internal Nottinghamshire wide campaign of training.  She was instrumental in obtaining the White Ribbon Campaign accreditation
for Nottinghamshire Police.
 
Helen was instrumental in setting up the Nottinghamshire multi agency safeguarding hub MASH in 2012, and has completely restructured the Public Protection provision into an independent command working locally with divisional policing.  She is an active member of the Kids Count Charity supporting the work in tackling the issues of young people involved or affected by Domestic Abuse.
She is an authorized tactical Firearms Commander, qualified as APOC critical incident commander, Policing Events, Multi Agency Critical Incident and a national assessor for the national Fast Track assessment (high potential) scheme.
